The services we provide in Sefton

Day Service, Crosby

The service at our Head Office complex has been in continuous operation for 20 years and provides day support for some 35 to 40 people.

Those attending the service take advantage of a large number of off-site activities including outward bound, swimming, trampolining and community access groups.

On site we provide therapeutic and learning opportunities such as personal grooming and ICT as well as art and creative therapies .

Autism Initiatives UK has a number ofservices in Southport including:

  • a residential service for 3 people which offers community based activities supported by our team trained staff team who have a flexible approach to the specific support needs of the individuals with ASD.

Town Centre

  • a long established registered house that has supported the 3 people that have lived there since the house opened 15 years ago. The house is close to Southport town centre and with the added attraction of Southport beach within walking distance.

Scarisbrick Road area

  • the 6 young adults living in this facility have tenancy arrangements.  The three flats each comprise two bedrooms with lounge, bathroom and kitchen facilities. The tenancy is supported 24 hours a day by trained support staff giving the tenants the opportunity to have more support in decision-making and choices whilst developing their level of independence.

Lethbridge Road, Southport

Lethbridge is situated close to Southport centre and train station with links to Liverpool and Preston. It is a registered house that supports 6 adults with Asperger Syndrome. Each person is supported to access the community, day services and workplace employment.

 

All Hallows – Bispham, Lancashire

All Hallows is a purpose built residential unit on the edge of Blackpool in Bispham, Lancashire. It provides accommodation for 5 people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) with 24 hour staff support. The unit has a dedicated staff team who work with the residents to provide support in the development of skills for life. They offer a range of stimulating activities and support individuals in their personal development. The unit has been open for 12 years and is owned by a local Housing Association. It provides long term placements for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Ashfield Road – Bispham, Lancashire

This is a three person tenancy designed to meet the needs of people who are ready to live more independently, while still having full time staff support when required. The tenants are encouraged to further develop their life skills and independence and to take as much control of their lives as they are able to manage.

Bristol Avenue   - Bispham, Lancashire

Bristol Avenue was the first autism specific day-service in the area. It was established the same time as All Hallows. It provides 15 places each day and has a user group from the local area as well as from Preston and Morecambe. The service has 4-5 workshops operating each day with a wide range of activities from dry-slope skiing to self advocacy. We work holistically with other agencies, families and carers to provide a rounded service that is tailored to meet individual needs.

The Pottery Studio - Parrs Farm, Fleetwood

The studio is situated within a working farm and agricultural museum. It consists of a 14 place service for individuals described as Asperger Syndrome/High Functioning Autism. Within the workshops we focus on our core activity which is making slip cast pottery that is cast fired and decorated by the Service Users. The finished work is then sold in our shop on site which forms part of the workshop. We also provide the Service Users with the opportunity to undertake a wide range of daily living skills and support individuals to develop their communication and thinking skills, through the activities undertaken.

 

Spring Meadow - Mere Brow, Lancashire

Spring Meadow consists of 4 bungalows with 2 day service buildings built to our specifications in 2005/6. It is a new project and people are still moving in, but all of the 12 beds are now allocated. Each house provides tenancy accommodation for three people with ASD. The houses are all tenancies and individuals are encouraged, with support, to take as much control over their own lives as possible. Unlike a traditional tenancy, Spring Meadow provides a tenancy opportunity to individuals who have classic autism, as well as to more able individuals with Asperger Syndrome. The unit is located in the quiet village of Mere Brow while still just a few miles from the town of Southport with all its amenities.

The houses benefit from the on site Day Service which can be accessed if required and which provides a wide range of therapeutic and creative opportunities. In particular this site has a major horticultural focus. There is a big vegetable garden, so “green fingers” help but are not essential.

Peterhouse School, Southport

Opened in 1974, our school in Southport, Merseyside is an independent specialist provision for 55 children from the ages of 5 to 19 years. Situated on a campus with 2 Local Education Authority schools it offers day, weekly, termly or 52 week residential placements.

Peterhouse Residential Support, Southport

  • Chambres Road , Southport: Two of the residential houses are situated 3 miles away from the school in large properties with extensive gardens.
  • Ashdown Close, Southport: This house is 4 miles away from the school on a pleasant modern housing estate.

Parkbourne, Liverpool

This is a registered house supporting 8 adults with autism. Parkbourne is situated in the Maghull area of Liverpool. The house has been established since 1998.  It has an experienced long-standing Manager and staff team that offers an individualized, autism specific service.

Cumberland Gate, Liverpool

Cumberland Gate is a registered house, which supports 3 adults. The house is located near to the M57 and M58 motorways and is close to local amenities.

The Laurels, Lancashire

The Laurels is a supported living service for 4 tenants. It is a listed building that has been refurbished to meet their individual needs. It is situated in the Leyland area of Lancashire. The house is set close to local parkland and the centre of Leyland.

 

Priest Lane, Ripon

This 1 person tenancy is located in North Yorkshire. It is close to the local town centre and cathedral. The staff team support the tenant in his daily living skills, community presence and accessing his day placements 5 days a week.

Hill Top, Harrogate

This house is a 24-hour supported tenancy, which was set up for the use of one young lady so that she would be able to live within the community. The tenancy has trained staff that support the individual in the development of communication and independence within her local community. It is situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Harrogate, with its many places of interest.
