MeCycle is a fantastic bike recycling enterprise operated by Autism Initiatives on Merseyside.

About MeCycle

We receive donated, pre-loved bikes and:

- Refurbish, clean and service bikes for resale at affordable prices.

- Strip bikes that are not suitable for refurbishment for their parts.

- Introduce the remainder of the bike into the recycling system thus avoiding landfill.

Bike refurbishment, along with servicing is performed as part of a work placement by volunteers who have autism. Our volunteers are fully supported by staff and a CYTEC qualified bike mechanic throughout the refurbishment process.

The work placement is modular, covering bike maintenance, office and IT skills as well as cycling and safety proficiency. Each volunteer receives a file providing evidence of their achievements and accreditations which can assist them when attempting to secure future employment.

MeCycle operates as a social enterprise. Our objectives are to provide affordably priced bikes to the community and to offer voluntary work experience to individuals with Autism and Asperger Syndrome. All profits and income made from this project are re-invested back into the scheme.
