Autism, children & education
Providing bespoke support for children / young people with autism from five years of age to Further Education and transition into the workplace.
Our autism services
Autism Initiatives provides a range of services geared toward supporting the education of children and young people with autism or asperger syndrome. These range from Peterhouse, our specialist school in Southport, to training, consultancy and our Outreach Support Service for Mainstream Education (OSSME) service.
The Haven School – our Welsh Government approved day school for pupils aged 11-19. Based in Flintshire, The Haven works in partnership with Families, Education Authorities, Social Services and Health agencies to equip children and young people with an education and skills for life.
All of our work is highly individualised to ensure we successfully meet the needs of the children/young people we support in addition to raising awareness and promoting understanding for the staff and other professionals who work with them.
We work in partnership with the Autism Education Trust (AET) Autism Education Trust an organisation which is dedicated to coordinating, supporting and promoting effective education practice for all children and young people on the autism spectrum. The Autism Education Trust is the only umbrella organisation working specifically on autism education across the voluntary, public and private sectors.
The AET Inclusion Development Programme:Supporting pupils on the autism spectrum is an interactive resource for head teachers, leadership teams, teachers, teaching assistants and the ITT audience.
The following sections detail information on the educational services Autism Initiatives provides to children and young people with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
