We currently have a Daycare Services Programme which operates Monday to Friday in two locations around Northern Ireland, Newcastle & Belfast.
The main aim of our Daycare is to provide a relaxing environment where our Service Users can take part in a wide variety of activities. We are able to provide social opportunities whereby individuals can meet up with their friends from around the other services.
We also provide educational opportunities and personal skills development.
The Daycare service also links up with the Residential and Supported Living Services to work together on different projects. This includes day trips and art projects such as the Seaside project.
One of the most important aspects of the Daycare service is the ability to provide emotional support and increase a persons self confidence, enabling them to take part in the wide variety of activities on offer across Autism Initiatives.
All the day services are staffed according to the individual needs of the service users and the activities are all service user led. Current activities include volunteer opportunities and conservation work in the ‘Silent Valley’ area which involves collaboration with the ‘Tools for Solidarity’ charity.
There are also many recreational activities such as Arts & Crafts, Yoga, Swimming, Cinema Trips and anything that is of particular interest to each service user. There is also a Sensory Perception room in the Newcastle facility which is used frequently by the service users.
Educational opportunities are also available with accredited drama and life skills courses as well as college placements which suit the individual service users’ interests.
